I've always thought that. Two rings means the rope runs in a short box shape which means you've got two 90degree bends. All a third ring does is make the box shape a bit bigger. You still have two 90degree bends.

I suspect (though my suspicions aren't as good as measurements) the radii are bigger on comparable Notch ones. Maybe that's better or maybe the flat on the Arbpros is good in that it gives the rope a bit of time to straighten out between entry and exit of a single ring (probably not though). Who knows? I'm sure they all work if you use them sanely.

If I wanted to split hairs, my gut feeling is that the Notch ones are the original and best (because of the bigger radii) and the Arbpro ones are quickly made copies that miss some subtle design things.
