Interesting question: Delivery time on stoves and spares - what is acceptable?

I have had to order new baffle plates in the past for My Jotul F100.

I was given a 3-4 week turn around. Seemed fair as it isn't a UK manufactured item.
I feel the same way about Jap M/Cycle spares...i.e. I don't expect them to keep a massive UK stock of (in my case Old -vintage?- spares)

However a UK manufactured item, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a week or two...max dependant on the exclusivity of the item.
I mean I can get a next day (or 2-day) service on my Worcester Bosch Oil Combi on most parts.

Is that what you were after? or should I change my location to la la land? :-)

Thats one of the key issues when buying a new stove and frequently ignored by buyers and most sellers.

All my manufacturers offer an overnight ( chargeable) service on parts with excellent availability.       I dont act for Jotul, some years ago when I tried to order a curved glass and gave them the sizes and serial number of the stove they could not id it,  they had neither of the options in the UK and refused to order in the two so that we could ascertain the correct one.

Morso even keep parts in UK stock for 40 and 50 year old models.

So buy cheap, online, without local dealer back up,  then you pays your money and takes a chance.

Hi @Bob_z_l

I think you are being very fair on your delivery expectations. We tend to get UK held stock delivered quicker than the timeframe you mentioned but stock coming from overseas can vary depending on the manufacturer.  Some manufacturers seem to hold minimum stock in the UK which puts people off buying their stove, creating a vicious circle.

Can see how a prospective purchaser would know or ask about likely spares back up.   Its just not a question that comes up  at point of sale but is taken for granted that spares are quickly and easily available.   Its only 5 years down the road when they need a grate or a baffle plate they find out the truth.  By that time many on line and distance sellers have long gone.
