I am very guilty of this!
Can’t really comment for others, but personally I never really no what to say and I’m happy enough just reading and learning, maybe one day il be able to pass some knowledge on, but currently probably not emoji23.png

I never let that stop me.

No he didn’t.

We’ve discussed falling post counts on another forum I’m on and one guy nailed it for me.

Basically the whole forum thing has been done by most people, the halcyon days are over, the novelty of seeing videos of people doing your job in new and exciting ways, talking to others about stuff has worn off, also if you really want to see some new gizmo you’ll check it out on YouTube, watch People on FB, instagram or whatever, so the client base has been diluted.

Star contributers who are now selling their own stuff get many more views to showcase their brand on Instagram than on any dedicated forum.

It’s a damn shame but in reality it lasted less than ten years.

Don’t get me wrong it’s still great here but those rollercoaster threads with dozens coming in are unlikely to return.

So it’s all off to FB to pile in on some poor individual who wore the wrong boots up a tree or whatever.

Your probably right. I don't do facebook at all or any other social media, I do remember when arbtalk was busier, but still enjoy it as is ( excluding some tedious members who have almost gone away now) . Don't really have anything to compare to. Hpoc.co.uk seems alot slower than it used to be also.

Fb sounds balls, from what I hear on here, although slagging off peoples boots does sound pretty tempting.

You don’t have to pass knowledge on, humour will do?

FB is ok for a company presence I hate it for everything else, I like Instagram as it’s pictures with a few words but again offers a presence. Arbtalk I love for its dry witted intimate humour, it’s as close to being in a pub as the internet will get. Not posted much recently as I have been super busy but do try to as much as possible when I can, whether I contribute anything or not.

The trouble is that people want instant gratification, replies, likes etc, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter provides that. Forums are slower, but for those who persevere they contain a lot of information and are far more useful.

I have found that some members can put people off though, I was probably 10,000 posts into another forum, but got pissed off and frustrated with some of the members, the site owner and gave up.
