How old is the machine / engine?  V1305 or V1505 Kubota? We had an old Entec in last year that was part exchanged with exactly the same symptoms.  New rings and bore hone was needed.

See if you can determine whether it is over fuelling or breathing / chuffing oil.

Wouldn't hurt to do a compression test whatever your issue is. Even if its to know you have a good base engine.

Might find that someone has previously given the fuelling a tweak. Or has this started in your ownership?

I see you say 3 filters fitted . There are 4 filters , Oil, in-line fuel , screw-on fuel and an air filter. Black smoke is usually an air clean problem . did you do the air filter ? also check the mushroom on the top , if that clogs it can cause black smoke.  Gareth of Green Plant.

Yes  but it was not unknown for people to break the lead seal and open up the rack in days of yore.

Valmet's forwarders did this a lot as standard if you booted them, I did an assessment on one of FC Ae's forwarders and got marked down by Mr. Coombie for saying it was a machine fault.
