...which is why late summer is the recommended time to prune Prunus; it gives the best chance of allowing the sap to flush away spores.  If you're going to cut the tree I'd do it asap.

Because of the strange weather we have had this year the fruit trees blossomed all at the same time and pollination has been great this year (apparantly) I had to look into this as I thought it may have been stress from the frost or proper winter we had or just a mast year or the extreme hot weather (who else was tempted to ditch their chainsaw trousers!?!) Isn't just restricted to trees-been so many brambles and even allotment fruit and veg. I still missed the chance of making my sloe gin ...one day they were there-ripening....next day birds must have had a feast!!!
