Splitting mauls aren’t necessarily sharp, are we confusing splitting and cutting?

I'm thinking of both.  or should that be spitting axe and splitting maul..   all depends on the wood your chopping..  easy wood an axe will do, mangy crap a maul..   I have a dozen different axes and mauls and they each work as good as the next if I'm fit that day....  and thats what really separates one from the other. whether your in shape when you chop your logs..
