Hey I am no expert, I covered the use of winch briefly during CS 31 and then a lot more in depth during CS 32 for hung up trees. I am due to go back down South East in two weeks to conduct CS 50 with Sawpod where I believe we will be training with them again.

Maybe someone else will post with more information but check these in the mean time...  https://www.nptc.org.uk/qualificationschemes.aspx?id=9

And specifically...  https://www.nptc.org.uk/qualificationschemedetail.aspx?id=345

For Training in the South East / Hampshire Area definitely no harm in calling Sawpod.

Hope this helps.

What aspect of winching are you interested in?

Felling with winches then assissted felling is the ticket you want

Take down of hung up trees with winches then CS32 is what you want.

If its vehicle recovery then its a vehicle winching ticket you want.

If you want to skid timber or winch it to a tractor it's an FMO 4 you want.

If its dealing with windblow is a 34/35 or 50 you want,
