Probably less arb ‘firms’ in Scotland being financed by mummy and daddy?

Is that the crack?

It does make me smile on here when I read, "I started with nothing" then some go on to say, "no it's dads farm tractor, loader, whatever".

I often wonder how they would go on hundreds of miles from home with no bank of mum and dad and no contacts.

I take my hat off to the likes of Dempsey who go to another country and make a success of things. Presuming he didn't have contacts there before he went.

So your point is that electricians are charging the same now as 25 years ago. I'm surprised they're not all retraining as arbs.

Nope, I very much doubt the bloke I had in hasn't put his prices up over the years. It was just surprising to see £50/hour in 1993.

Put an advert in the employment section.
There's always crews looking for new staff on here.
Get experience with several firms as each will work differently.
Find one you're comfortable with.
Enthusiasm, drive and determination are essential. Not to mention the 100 mile daily commute and the lack of sleep.emoji57.png
You might get lucky and get put through your tickets by a proper firm.
Good luck mate

RH,

Thanks for the encouragement.  As for sleep, luckily I have a van with a bed I built in the back ?

Funny you say that, I'm off away in my van to meet a group of strangers in a carpark at 1am tonight.  It's to support a long distance runner, at least that what I tell my girlfirend.

Is he doing the bob graham or wot ever u call it?

a mate managed it a few years ago just about killed him, think he had 6 mins to spare
