Mancoed - north wales

Hi guys, ive got a "meeting" with a guy from mancoed tommorow about a possible job with them. Ive done some reasearch (here and the web) and i see they have had a shady past but seem to be on the mend.

Does anyone know an up to date info on them and if they are decent. Ive been struggling to get into forestry work because of my experience (a few months) and probably age (32) and lack of climbing quals/exp ( ive only got cs38 atm) but have the basic ground tickets.

Also i feel i will be selling myself short at this meeting/interview as i havent a lot of experience, so can anyone offer any advice on what i can say to make myself not sound like a clueless bloke with tones of desperation to get my foot in the door?

All info welcome, cheers

Hi i do beleive that mancoed have had thier troubles but if i was you i would go and try my best to get my foot in the door.

Tell them your hard working and that your willing to learn and accept any training that will benefit you and the company. You can only give it a try mate and see where it leads.

Good luck

Just be honest about your experience and show a keenness, nothing worse than people who exaggerate their experience and turn out to be crap.

It went really well, within a few hours of speaking to the supervisor this morning i was given an interview with one of the main bosses for next week.

I did ask about its past and basically it seems it had too much office staff and they also split in two, so a mix of communication problems and a lot of guys who where incompetant.

Either way things are looking good, its been nails to get anywhere in this area so for better or worse im going to give it a go. Thanks for the advice guys.

Hiah Mate. Tony and Martin are good guys with a lot of experience and have had to do things the hard way. Dragged the company up from the bottom after it went pear shaped. They have some tidy contracts up North with a few different councils etc. As others have said be totally honest and clear in what experience you have but also sell the fact that you are keen and hard working.

Well I got he job, I start mid August. I'm looking forward to it but I've noticed the wage is pretty poor, as a groundsman it's £8.25 pH. Now I'm not being ungreatful or anything but I was hoping for a bit better than that. It's a foot in the door and a chance to get myself in the industry though. Thanks for all the advice fellas
