Which part of your stove have you replaced most often?

Hmmm... it seems as of tonight I now need new glass.  I always thought only muppets broke glass, either by trying to shut the door on a log that was too big to fit, or  poorly putting a big heavy log in on a pile and having it roll heavily into the glass.  Tonight i lit the stove as usual (lots of paper, a squirt of lighter gel, 7 or 8 little bits of kindling and then 3 very small logs)  didn't take og for the flue thermometer to show 270C, and I shut the primary vent completely and nudged the air wash a tad.  15 minute later flames are gone, the small logs are down to coals and I grab 2 logs to reload and...wtf? door glass with a crack right across.  weird.  oh well.  5 minutes on google and I ordered replacement for £21 delivered.

Just got my stove ready for the winter. New firebricks again (every 18 months but I will burn coal, coke and wood), it needs a new baffle plate soon , and grate (6 years old stove) Replaced the glass after we cracked it and the rope this year

This year I am trying screed (concrete) fire bricks (had to cast them myself) - the woman on the phone said they would work so here goes and hope they last say, 2 years.

Looking back 12 months, I was getting my stove ready for the winter. I put in screed fire brcks (see quote) a year ago and so far so good, they appear to be harder wearing than what I was using before. The one at the back has cracked...but I put that down to the grate falling apart and warping last easter. The faces of the bricks are still in good shape. They even came out and went back in again without breaking - thats a first after being in for a year.

So far so good.

Just to uodate for the thread, the stove is 7 now, had 3 or 4 sets of fire bricks, a new grate (ny fault for not clearing the ashes out) and ew glass (Cindy fault for slamming the door shut oto a log) [ just needs a new baffle plate (next winter i think) and the internals have all been changed.
