Evening all,

ive got a ppt265 which recently developed a fault; it wont start without full-3/4 choke and will only tick over at about 3/4 choke.  I have changed the plug, stripped and cleaned the carb (zama k89) and put a new carb kit in it. In the carb kit was a small metal ring, only  a couple of mm's. I couldn't see where it went, could this be the problem?? Any ideas? Thanks for your input

Did you remove the throttle body from the carb when you cleaned it.  There's a little tiny roller in there to lift the throttle drum up as you accelerate.  If this is missing, (they can fall out when you disassemble) or the throttle body is worn in this area it won't lift the drum and needle.   Wonder if this is the little metal ring you mentioned, it does sound like it.
