Prefer a more traditional looking stove, but i’m not a big fan of cast feet, just think theyre tacky looking and not really a good match on most stoves, but thats just my opinion. That part reason why i went for a stovax stockton midline with full cast bottom. Love it, and suits my fireplace that i built too, its spot on [emoji108]

Technically the more contemporary stoves are of superior design with things like Terciery air to optimise combustion and emissions,  stainless door handles that do not get hot enough to burn,  etc.     The tall thin models offer a superior fire as the terciery air comes on halfway up the rear thus you have in effect two fires one above then other.

Its horses for courses but at the end of the what you prefer is academic,  your other half will tell you which one you are having !!. Or at least that's what happens in 98% of sales in my experience where its her final decision.    You all know how the world works !!.

It is certainly a case of "horse for courses" and we all have different likes and dislikes when it comes to stove design. While there will always be a market for traditional looking stoves, contemporary designs are proving more and more popular. Interestingly, just because the traditional stove has not changed in design many people forget the latest technology under the surface. In many ways it is a skill to keep the old style look but also incorporate the best of the latest combustion techology - the best of both worlds!

I do not like the fussy gee-gaw festooned "traditional" stoves, nor do I particularly like enamelled stoves, I do however like the modern Scandanavian type upright stoves or  plain practical black cast iron with pleasing aesthetic lines, like our Panther series Morsos, or the baby egg shaped(G1?) Astroflamm even.
