In theory that sounds ideal but while waiting for the cogs of justice to turn you are left with no equipment, no money to replace it and the potential for the scum to return. The law is too lenient and the only language they understand is fear. And I've no problem defending my own property myself. I've worked too hard to get the little I have to allow any thieving little scrote take it.

Have not the Americans recently done sommat about non-resident US Citizens being liable for personal taxes regardless of where the work or choose to reside, I dont remember the details, but certainly along those lines.
marcus

Yep.

Over a certain threshold I can be taxed by the US because I am married to an American, despite the fact I’ve never set foot in the place.

So.. turns out it was a wasted night.. No sign of the fcukers! But credit where credit is due, the gardai did a couple of drive bys, the visual deterrent of a cop car in the general area may have at least helped stop me or somebody else losing our livelihoods. And before anyone asks, no the gard didn't drive over my plank of nails!! Came close the first time he drove in.. think he was as surprised to see me actually waiting in the yard as I was to see him actually doing his job!! Going to keep a close eye on the yard between now and xmas.
I sort of like the idea of a tinker family having Xmas dinner and one of the kids going " mommy, where daddy" " Oh paddy, ur daddys having Xmas tied to a tree in a forest coz he were tryna stale stuff again, but he were only doin it coz he havs tu, coz we iis all fat an useless. Now ate yer sliced chukken"

A while ago I was a fishing ghillie. I’ve been away from that for 11 years now. In the eighties the local pikeys used to use rabbit gassing powder (Cymag) wrapped up in a hessian bag at the head of the stream to get Salmon and seatrout. Poaching was so bad most ghillies carried the same warrant cards as the two employed bailiffs. They usually used too much and killed everything for a few pools down stream. It deoxygenated the water and the fish basically drowned. Anaemic gills were the clue. They also used nets if the pool didn’t have obstructions.
With two bailiffs we twice arrested some guys who we caught red handed. There were some battles trying to apprehend them.
We too usually tried to disable any hidden motor beforehand, but they’d often leave someone with it.
They rarely got a sentence longer than a month. We once had admitted we went with baseball bats, so had premeditated the aggression. That allowed the fuckers to leave court.
It’s no wonder the cops are wary of trying to apprehend these guys on a dark night as sentences are minimal and there’s a good chance of getting hurt or worse.
