Fast tractor regulations

I remember reading about a few months back in a dvsa news letter, saying it would apply for non agricultural use, then it went on to say about the numbers it expected to be tested, and it was quite small, 200 - 300 if I remember right.

With that small number I`m guessing its agricultural machines, that are taxed/registered for commercial use.

Saw this, appreciate it is an IE article but it's pertains to an EU directive that is seemingly approaching. Will impact on fastrac and unimog users.

In Ireland it may come into law, but the chance of any sort of enforcement will be minimal. Owners almost always own a farm, have a family farm or contract haulage to farms. The loopholes and wriggle outs are more plentiful than the number of guards able to police it. There's a strong tradition of, not disrespecting the law, just finding ways round it, and believing that it actually applies to someone else!

It's already happening, as already mentioned, for tractors being used for commercial haulage. I think it comes into play on 20th May 2018.

Where does it leave you if you are running Ag Tax and are more than 15 miles from your base with your Fastrac or unimog. That consultation document needs studying, it strikes me it could have far reaching implications.
