I've been burning softwood for a while now, it's all I use at home, heats the house, bright flame, clean burn. Can't fault it, dry as you as like softwood has to have a market. Sure it burns quicker, but it's good gear.

Plus 1 on that but the general public dont by and large want it as 'it burns to quick'.   What they dont realise is the heat release is faster as the wood is less dense.  As logs are sold by volume there are more KWH in hard than soft but its a higher price.  Therefore cost per KW is about the same.

I even had a guy not happy with some ultra dry KD Ash last week as it burnt faster than the seasoned wood I had been selling him.

Watching this with interest as I'm keen to know what percentage of people's sales are from softwood.

About 5%.

Same-ish here though I'm a tiny, tiny supplier.

Funny how softwood keeps Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the far north of America and Siberia warm yet there's no convincing the south of England that it's any good.

At home I burn 100% softwood.

About 1%. People are brainwashed into think only hardwood is any good I’m afraid!

Occasionally get one brave soul to try softwood and they’re usually happy with it I have to say.

About 5% of our sales are softwood but the price has just rocketed so I can't see it being worth it compared to hardwood soon.

Personally I prefer to burn hardwood because it's less work but I've got no issues burning softwood.
