Jansen FS-35 log splitter?

when it works its great but considering it's only been used occasionally and this has happened it's not a good sign (not sure if swear words are permitted on this forum) i wouldn't recommend it for the above reasons - and the Graham whatshisname guy at woodmanstore is no real help and obviously not interested in good service just into selling machines and making money.. i'm inclined to believe its had no real field tests and mugs like me are the field test, at present I feel ripped off.

I know how you feel I'm in exactly the same boat as you after buying the Venom log splitter from Rock Machinery. The machine literally fell apart after just a few uses. Very poor build quality and Rock Machinery didn't care they just fobbed me off even though the machine is under warranty so I reported them to trading standards.

I have a Jansen FS35, I have had it for around five years now with Zero problems. I have made no modifications as although I would be one of the first to alter something I thought I could improve on, I have found nothing.   It's only limitation I would say is that operator needs to be capable of lifting (in my case 18" long) log onto table. In my case, this means that an ash log larger than 16"dia x 18"long is simpler to split on my vertical tractor mounted splitter, or noodle it in half first.

     I don't spend my time trying to find logs that are really awkward for it, and as I reduce a tree to splittable pieces with saw, I bear in mind the time I can save if I cut it most suitably for this splitter.

    I suppose I can split certainly double the quantity of firewood with this Kinetic splitter that I can with my tractor mounted hydraulic splitter in the same time.  They are both a  BIG improvement on a maul, the FS35 is however very much faster.  I only split for my own requirements, and this tool is a real pleasure to use.

     It would not be good with a hangover or perhaps for those with very limited vision.

    My view is if you can afford it, go for it. I very much doubt you will be disappointed, most especially if you are using it yourself.
