If you think a head torch provides efficient lighting to use a chainsaw you need to your head examined pal.

Even if its an emergency call out im not using a head torch,id use a tractor or a 4x4  for lighting in that situation

having done a few night time call outs, I would say a head torch, (I use the Petzl one, it clips to both my husky ground lid and petzl vertex) is a brilliant asset to add to 4x4 lights. My Defender has additional roof lights but when you are working with your back to the vehicle, as you often will be, a head torch illuminates your immediate area.

Currently have two petzl as below but one has packed after many years service. What does anyone recommend from the petzl rechargeable ones? We use ours for at the yard tipping or finding tools at the end of the day if its run over. Wouldn't really want to do tree work with them, have done for emergency jobs but slows things down compared to daylight DSC_5062.JPG

For gritting or just general seeing in the dark we use LED lenser 7r's. Nice and bright for what we need and £50 a go on amazon. Gets dropped seemingly every 30 seconds by one member of staff and its still fine after a year, can use 3 AAA's or the rechargable battery that can charge from the truck with a usb adaptor.
