Cones wrong way up aren't they? Needles not pointy enough for sitka and I'm not familiar enough to choose between ormorica and orientalis

Cones are definitely spruce, not fir.

(tentatively)... I thought spruce cos spruce cones hang down and fir cones hang up.

Everyone knows that.

But the pic of the cones is upside down cos the white side is the underside and should be down but is up.

So if the pic of the cones was the right way round they would hanging up.

They may still be spruce but er... that's all.

Erm.. no. Cones are upward, ruling out Spruce, and very much ruling in Fir. Needles are too flat to roll between the fingers, ruling out Spruce. Flush, round needle scars, ruling out Spruce (peg attachment). That light bark is not like Spruce either. All in all, with bracts visible, and all other diagnostic features, I'd say it was a planted-out Nordmann (Fir) christmas tree. Could have got a few bob for the crown if you'd held off for a few weeks.

Yep, wind is in the right direction!

Grand fir has a strong orangey smell, similar to Douglas by more orangey, that’s how I can I d it and I’m right

Looks to Picea Likiangensis to me, attached a photo I took from an arboretum.

 

Look like spruce cones hanging down and needles appear to be on pegs.
