I have made a couple in the past and filled the head with lead shot to add weight, you could always teach the good lady to dispatch by hand, the girls on our shoot were pretty good and humane at it.



I have always been a little squeamish when dispatching a bird, I will do it if needs be but just not too fond of it.

I went out beating on a shoot a few years back and I'll never forget watching a 6 yr old boy pick up a pheasant that had been shot but not killed. He picked it up with one hand and dispatched it like a pro with a flick of the wrist, walked over and gave it to his dad..
