STIHL’s battery range continues to expand with the introduction of the new AR 1000 lithium-ion backpack battery, the lightest of those featured in its PRO cordless range.

Weighing only 5.5kg, the slim ergonomic design of the AR 1000 allows the weight to be carried closer to the operators back, making it more comfortable during operation, particularly over longer periods. Also, the attachable rain cover means its use is not dictated by weather conditions.

A comfortable harness with a waist and chest strap come as standard and the new design includes a USB port to allow the user to charge devices such as mobile phones.

The battery backpack enables the extended use of STIHL cordless products such as hedge trimmers, blowers & brush cutters. This versatility is

particularly well suited for professionals who perform a variety of garden and landscape tasks.

The AR 1000 is ideal for use in conjunction with the powerful new HSA 94 R and T hedge trimmers, affording them an impressive runtime of up to 380 minutes on a single charge. The FSA 130 and 130 R brush cutters can also run for up to 230 minutes, with the BGA 100 blower running for up to 225 minutes.

When used in conjunction with the AL 500 charger, the AR 1000 backpack battery can be charged in as little as two hours, cutting down the time expenditures usually necessary for charging.

For added convenience, the new battery backpack also has a six LED charge display status, enabling users to quickly and easily monitor the charge level to know how much operation time is left before needing to re-charge the unit.

The STIHL backpack is available exclusively from more than 700 STIHL Approved Dealerships nationwide, with experts on hand to offer help and advice. The AR 1000 has a recommended retail price of £630 including VAT.

Anyone used a backpack with a hedgetrimmer?  Does the lead get in the way at all?

No experience if the hedge cutter but the backpack is the same for my electric secateurs. The cable situation is likely to be the same - I'd definitely buy a few spares! Would be very early to cut it. From a design perspective I suppose you can't have a close fitting cable to reduce risk but also enough length for movement.

Side note - the backpack is very comfy. I wear it for hours at a time without complaint.

They've been a God send this summer cutting epicormic on Limes. Clocked up over 220,000 cuts according to the monitor. Zero hand pain. The battery life is amazing too. Charging it every 3 days.

People love them as well. I must had had a 100 people stop and ask about them.
