Still use a pen and paper on site with a map supplied by the client.  Any CAD stuff I need gets done by a third party using the info on a survey template.  This still works for me.  I've heard stories about people paying thousands of pounds a year for licences and tech support but for the scale of my operation I cant justify the cost.  Never had a complaint from any local TOs or architects with my surveys so far.

Yup Dan, cost then - you have the time and guessing postal is fine with  clients like that. This is the point of the thread, as some software / hardware is massive investment an don't  often give an acceptable result. EzeetreeV is license base an runs at abt £750 A pop. K

Never used it professionally but there is some freeware knocking about that can be adapted - most folks use Cad or similar which is big bucks and way out for most small companies...

Worth searching previous posts I think (we can still do that presumably?!!)

Anno, that's the route I been going down. EzeetreeV had massive issues and wouldn't do BS5837. Using a Samsung tablet with custom form application which has quite sophisticated features and as it's all online, updates are almost instant -perfect for getting info to clients or crews. K

What's the custom form app you're using?
