small planer thicknesser

Could anyone recommend me a reasonable planer thicknesser for finishing my milled boards? I've been looking at the metabo hc260 and dewalt one. Is there any others i should take a look at? I've been looking at some second hand cast iron ones on the bay but shipping etc is always a bit of a pain to get them back to my place.

Cheers, James.

Go for an old cast machine (wadkin boas) or similar they last forever and stand a lot of hammer! The finish is far better too

I was thinking along those lines but my budget is about 750 max so its trying to find a decent machine for that sort of money within a good distance so delivery/picking it up isn't a pain

i managed to get a good second hand one refurbished for only £845 (pictured) a few years ago so keep looking around mate.

ebay is a good place to start. cast iron ones are the best but make sure it runs ok first.
