Aluminium surver tags on TPO trees

Does anyone know if the  usage of aluminium tags on TPO trees could be misconstrued as wilful damage?  The local TO is suggesting I find an alternative method for a survey.  I informed him that these tags are an industry standard for large scale surveys where accuracy is paramount to the surveyor and contractor.

Really? Maybe if you're using six inch nails to attach them?

Does he also require an application for using a resistograph or picus?

Strictly speaking, probably. Would his legal dept be willing to take you to court, as it would be in the public interest to do so? I doubt it.

i imagine a magistrate would be delighted to adjudicate such a case.

Some TO's must have very sad home lives, they seem to really need to get a sense of self-importance from their jobs, it really is very sad.

I don't understand it, or rather the need for it. If the TO is suggesting an alternative, say what is. If he doesn't like metal tags just explain why and educate the OP (and us!)

Thanks for the replies everyone.  I agree some TOs are a little pedantic, but given all the cuts at the minute they probably want things airtight.  I haven't dealt with this one before so will make the time to show him the tags and nails.  I have explained that the nails will not be inserted fully to allow for future growth but he still seemed off.  I'll take the stapler and see how effective it is.

Thanks again.
