I am after a tractor to power a 12" crane fed chipper. This one is within the recommended horsepower range.

Has a front end load

Is small enough to maneuver on jobs

Looks tidy

Is within the age range the finance company will fund

What does arbtalk think?

Mike it is a tidy looking tractor, my thoughts are, I guess it has 100 hp, that it may be a little under powered, we run a number of 12'' chippers on 200 hp, with all grab feeding you are tempted to over feed, this taken into account, we can still get ours into the stress control stopped zone, try to get a demo if possible and try it, good luck

It looks like a 100-110hp tractor.

I've run a 12" chipper on a 100hp and they do struggle on timber. Also with the 4 cylinder running flat out fuel consumption is rather high.

Looks like it has a free flow return and a lot of spools all very helpful for running the crane. Things to check is wear on the front axle from use of the loader. Oh it looks like an early N series so check for leaks on the valve block on under the cab. I think there is a pipe that rubs and leaks, downside is that if it goes or leaks the cab has to come off.

Great info,thank you guys!

It was great to learn about the leaky valve block, things like that are great to know.

I would be chipping mostly brush though, more horsepower is never a bad thing.Tractors are flipping expensive over here and the large ones are alot more "sinky" as its minging wet here pretty much all the time.

Its rated to 115 Horse Power

Chipped it would run 135 Horse power.

It would be only for running a chipper and loading logs onto Trucks.
