Stihl 200t running issues

Hi Guys

Wondering if anyone might know what's wrong with my 200t. It usually starts of fine, then after using for maybe 10/20 mins it starts to rev by itself, then bogs down in the cut and then eventually just starts cutting out and gets to the point of not starting

I Had issues with mine yesterday, I had it running pretty much none stop for a full tank then when I went to restart it, it refused until it cooled down! I put it down to overheating but it really shouldn't be the case!? Mine's only about 4 months old and I clean filters etc every week!

 

Mines running fine now so don't want to take back to dealer for them to tell me it's ok...

Take exhaust off and have a look at piston, sounds like a knackered or worn piston and cylinder to me.

Clean the air filter , check the tank vent is not blocked and check the impulse line is not split or come off .

From that description it could be three carb problems or a number of engine issues. Most of the carb issues are not that easy to diagnose but you could try a known good carb and go from there!

Also, +1 on checking the fuel tank vent. One way to diagnose if it's this - run the saw until it gives trouble, undo fuel cap to allow air in (ie get rid of vacuum), refit cap and see if saw runs fine for a bit - until vacuum builds again.

 

How old is saw? What's the service history like?

Thanks for the reply's. Haven't really had the chance to have a proper look at it. The impulse line does seem to be slightly split but don't think it goes right through the rubber. I bought the saw second hand not too long ago, apparently had a new carb fitted, so maybe something to do with that
