ok heres a few pics i took today of the m redirect. the first 2 pics are a standard vt set up. the spliced end of the line is unclipped, fed through the krab, over the redirect crotch then back to the krab. this can be retreived without climbing back to the redirect point. this set up uses no extra hardware at all.

pics 3 & 4 are showing a set up using the v.t with a hitchclimber. i used an additional krab and pulley on this set up for smoothness. you could add a friction saver on the redirect anchor point with another pulley if you wanted it super smooth and it would still be retreivable....course you'd end up using more gear.

I feel stupid looking at the M re-direct. Some things are so obvious you will never think of them.

I use redirects quite a lot. I also veto the 2 ends of one rope technique. I actually bought my own rope when I joined this company as they would only give me one rope and a 3m lanyard. Glad I did. It also means I have a long rope and short rope so, when climbing small trees, I have less tail to pull through forks.

Does that feel smooth with the hitch climber steve ? It looks good :) I redirected lots yesterday in a big oak which is rare for me but since Anna bought a daisy chain and a double pulley i've used it a fair bit.

Here's a way to visualize the M-Redi...

I think that you should be able to see many variations. Including retreiveable false crotches takes some planning so that you don't set them up backwards and turn your ropes into bird's nests.
