Rayco rg13 bearings

Recommended Posts

I have a rayco rg13 and one of my cutter head bearings is kaput so I need to remove the lower belt pulley to get the bearings out.

Do I do this using a hub puller or is there another method?

Am sure when i replaced mine, the 3 bolts that you have taken out i then screwed into the other holes that are threaded.

Tighten up, that should push off the pulley.

On the taper, there is a grub screw on the rim, undo this and the taper should come off.

Don,t like i did, hammer a screwdriver into the slot on the taper to prise apart as it suffs it. Or wack it with a hammer as this stuffs it also.

this is sounding confusing... there were no bolts just 3 grubs and there is a keyway on the shaft, I'll take a piccy tomorrow. :thumbup1:

That is right, just google how to remove a taperlock pulley. It will become obvious when you start. You can normally remove the grubs and tap the outer part of the pulley with a mallet which will pop it. Then just slide off the key.

So got everything of without to much drama, had to cut the old bearings to pull them off but that was fine. Took them to the local bearing shop before I cut them off and they sorted new with replacements. Went to fit it back on and they don't fit! I've tried different configurations by turning them and they are about 5mm out.... The casting on one of the old bearings was broken so I'm wondering if it has the wrong ones I've got ucp205-16 1" ones

If you had to cut the bearings off, there is a good chance you'll need a new shaft because the shaft will be scored where its turned inside the knackered bearing.
