Firewood barns in an ideal world

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am looking into putting up a steel framed barn / storage shed for kit and firewood storage/drying I was wondering what would be the best walling to use etc to maintain air flow.

obviously the kit side will be blocked in.

what are your ideas please

Cheers

Yorkshire boarding. 4" or 6" vertical board with an 1" gap between boards

A building with large overhangs around all sides and no walls of any kind would be the ultimate for airflow. Literally just a roof but with plenty of overhang past the columns to stop rain getting to the logs.

A good wind or, a sunny day should sort out wet logs.. which begs the question why have a building at all?..

I'd build a shed for my gear, and leave the logs outside.. tarp sheet if you must keep rain off the tops of logs...

Mind, speaking as a one man band here, not much use for a building to house tons of anything never mind logs..

That works ok as long you don't want to sell them directly after a few days of constant rain, especially in winter.
