French Election

Im wondering if it would be at all possible too have a political debate on this forum without it descending into the matelot muslim hate rhetoric.

Im not denying matelot voicing his opinions but not every political debate is about terrorism or immigration.

I don't think so! I think the mad dash to the nationalistic right accross the world is frightening. The call for 'strong leaders' in countries such as The US and Turkey begins to move towards an autocratic, dictatorial style of government. That is perilously close to Facism and we know how that ends.

You could have said the same thing about the Irish 35 years ago.

There's very little we can do about it. If mentally unstable people are hellbent on blowing things up, they will. There's not a great deal you can do to defend youself either.

Most people are good people. Some people are fanatics.

Your right of course but that doesn't mean we have to pamper them and welcome them with open arms and then be afraid of doing something about it because we could be labelled as racist, I'm all for equality and equal standards but unfortunately most Muslims only want it there way or no way.

Lots of typically weak, vaguely leftwing politically correct posts tonight from the apologists for Islam. They argue in the abstract, detached from the very real problems created by a totalitarian religious ideology that has unfortunately gained special privilege in the west.

The fact greengui thinks that halal meat being forced on indigenous British children is funny tells you he's happy to be cuckolded by Islam. A truly pathetic condition for a man to be in.

Looking forward to seeing more of the lefty pro Islam/pro Islamist arguments as this thread continues, it lets us observe the pitiful self loathing of people who have no grasp of history and the precarious nature of democracy and how it must be defended against the intolerance and bigotry of the 'religion of peace'

Go on, enlighten me...

Its a quality standard!! Not that long ago that the brits were being fed and feeding to their kids horse meat in the belief that it was beef. That was previously reserved for 'the filthy europeans'. The Muslims would not feed that to their kids.

A quality standard? Are you for real? ?? You obviously know very little about it. Go away and do a bit of research and come back and enlighten us all.

That's a false analogy though - the IRA were a largely well coordinated outfit with a clear command structure fighting for a definitive set of objectives and were - ultimately - brought to the negotiating table. The same can't be said for the ever changing collection of Islamic terrorist groups and various 'lone wolves' who's sole unifying factor appears to be wanting to impose a global Islamic caliphate - regardless of the wishes of the rest of the world.

No, you bore me and make me laugh at the same time hence the smiles  The fact you cannot see that the "Lefty Righty" political crap is dead speaks volumes. I actually pity you, all of you that continue to espouse this narrow minded view that is fed to you, that you lap up so readily.

So what would we suggest that the next President of France do to tackle The spread of crime, poverty and violence in France. Wherever it comes from? I ask this as a serious question because it seems that a lot of the proponents of fundamentalist Islam use "tolerance" and "political correctness" as shields to hide behind and sticks to beat western culture with.

Is it possible to make an honest assessment of the core tenets of Islam with its major doctrines (e.g implementation of sharia law and the call to jihad) and make a value judgement based on that?

If we can see it for what it is in the plain light of day surely we should be able to "call it out" and show it some "tough love" on account of it being incompatible with western cultural norms in its fundamentalist form.

For the record, I don't hate muslims but I do hate the spirit that lurks behind fundamentalist Islam.

Timon.
