bees in a hollow branch

hi guys been taking down a large black popular and as usual inspect the tree before any work commenced but some how missed the bee hive so removed branches then started to rig the colom down then all he'll breaks l99se half way through the back cut so I had no choice but to continue and remove the piece so on the ground they are buzzing mad is the anything that I can get in trouble for

I'm really sweating about it to be hounest but hope all will be ok as the property owner has two bee hive of his own for his own supply of honey

Well grab the owner quick, explain what's happened and he'll sort out the bees.

Edit, assuming they're honey bees, but he'll have the kit to calm/move bumbles too.

Are there any other trees that you could attach the log to? If so smoke them and winch them up and strap them to the other tree..

unfortunately not as I mad the cut through the hive and yes they where not happy

I have and they are funny bees he said it's ok I got two hives and my soninlaw owns a farm with bees also

That's an unusual reply from a beekeeper.

The ones I know would normally be too happy to take over what I assume is an unnoticed swarm.

 

Maybe contact the local Beekeepers Association?

It happens and they can be re-hived but its an arse of a job and diease is a factor with an un known colony , I have split a trunk section out n re hived them satifactoriliy but it is an effort ! K
