2 vans or 7.5 toner

My truck is 8'6 wide and 26' long. Yeah it costs more to run than a transit but I don't need to empty every 30 minutes either.

 

It won't go down every drive but it is surprising where it'll go.

I have found in most cases if a truck wont go into a drive the property is normally so small you can reach in and grab the gear out.

Its easy to go and buy a 3.5 toner and use it as a work vehicle, mot tax & insurance your away, in reality 3.5t allows for a 1- 1.5t payload

 

 

In reality. A transit crew cab with a standard aluminium tipper tray weighs in at 2600kg. Add a tank of fuel, some high sides or a chip box, a crew of 4 guys and your tools then hitch up a chipper (providing, of course, you have a tachometer fitted and calibrated) you will be driving out of your yard empty but already very near the limit.

True but to a lot of people given the choice to spend £1000 or just get another van will choose the van every time...whats outreach on crane? looks cool.

Yeah but, what else can we moan about?

 

If it's not pensions, the cost of tipping, or running the correct vehicle for the job we would have nothing to go on about.

The problem I had when looking into a o licence was the yard aspect. My truck lives on my drive, my yard is basically a old bit of woodland my farther owns with zero security. When I looked into getting a 7.5t my concern was, would they class my drive as a operators yard? Anyone else running a 7.5t from a normal house?
