I think that's the same as most people Mark, which is a shame as they only see negatives and never see the benefits.

I've cut a few out and opened the wood at the part of the steel and there's little to no affect or damage to the tree. However I see a lot of badly installed cobra that either does nothing or has damaged the tree.

This is the tree after a 30% reduction and thin, the chap is installing a triangular cobra.

I think also people see drilling as massively invasive (but are happy to leave 6" dia 'pruning' cuts).

Most of the steel bracing I've removed years after it was installed the tree seems to have compartmentalised and callused pretty well.

Cobra would obviously be useless in the co-doms lower down.

About 10ft. I would of preferred 6ft but there isn't space between the stems
