Is that the thing that takes a CO2 canister like a soda stream?

There are 2 types of CO2 canisters for air guns and 2 types of Ratcatcher rifle. The King Ratcatcher (which I would prefer but can't find) takes an 88gm capsule, which does look like a Sodastream capsule, or the standard rifle which takes a 12gm capsule. Just to make it more complicated, there are 2 different models of the standard gun, 2250B and 2250XL with a longer barrel which allows it to legally run at 12 ft/lb. Bet you're glad you asked now.

Anybody on here got/used a Crosman Ratcatcher (2250B or XL)? Toying with the idea of getting one to use around the log piles as my field rifles seem a bit overkill. :001_smile:

I had one a few years ago and it was OK, but definitely lacked stopping power compared to even a reasonable springer rifle. With a moderator on it it was almost silent though.

Mine must've been the short barrel version (at the time there was only the short barrel but it wasnt unheard of to fit the Rabbit stopper barrel) and took cartridges that were about the size of a 3" 12bore cartridge - they never lasted long though.

Sounds like the original 2250B with the 12gm capsule which was limited to 6 ft/lb like an air pistol. The XL runs at about 10 which has a better punch. Didn't know you could fit a different barrel though. Cheers!:001_smile:

Sounds like the new ones could be quite good fun :thumbup1:

Looks like someone has commercialised my filling the runs with gas idea! Looks like a good solution. Tried it once to clear the roots out of my outside stopcock and it took over a month to grow the hairs back on my arm:blushing:

I remember when the Estate I worked on got one (knocking on 10 years or so ago now) and I think to begin with they just used to like firing things out of drain pipes with it

Can't really believe it....

Been watching two for the most of the morning, just messing about at the top of the garden!!! :sneaky2:

I put / screwed down some bait blocks around the garden just over a week ago, and they're not interested in them!

Anyone know of a good plan B???
