Charghand Arborist and qualified climbers/groundsman

South Gloucestershire Council has a new opportunity for skilled climbers to join a new team dedicated to managing the council large stock of trees.

 

We have three positions available one for an experienced Arborist to act as team leader this person will need all relevant citification up to CS41 including a broad suite of other certifications including CS31, CS38.1, CS38.2 CS39 etc.

The role would require someone qualified to Level 3 and someone with supervisor experience as they would have daily responsibility for at least two other operatives.

We would also look for good industry knowledge and an understanding of good practice such as AFAG 403, industry codes such as Tree Works at Height and Good Climbing Practice.

The use of MEWPs will be a feature for some jobs, so any skill, knowledge or experience here will be an advantage.

 

We would also look for a competent person who has the skills to carry out weekly checks as required under LOLOR.Six monthly inspection will be carried out independently.

Street works certification would be an advantage but we can provide training for suitable applicants.

 

As well as those practical skills we are looking for someone with a good arboriculture technical knowledge such as able to identify tree species with botanical names and an understanding of common pest, diseases.

The work will include a full range of tree work such as Crown reduction, crown lifts, crown thinning, felling, tree planting etc.

 

The successful person will be self-motivated, have a flexible approached and a can do attitude but not someone who is a risk taker as H&S will be a priority.

The council will be looking to gain ARB approved accreditation with the Arboriculture Association through its associated membership scheme so applicants with individual membership or working to the Association's standards would be an advantage.

 

For all this we offer a competitive salary based on 37 hours per week with 33 days paid holiday including statutory holidays, access to an average salary pension. Along with the opportunity to develop your skills within the industry.

The current salary for this position-Up to £23,166.

 

We also require suitable experienced climbing operatives and grounds operatives these two roles will require each to have tree climbing and aerial rescue certification and good all round knowledge and experience we offer the same benefits as above for these roles. The current salary for these positions -Up to £19,939
