strimmer / brush cutter advice

Yep I know the op is looking for alternatives but I have been abusing one of the newer stihl 410 and it is faultless. Would not hesitate to buy another. Got some older fs400, obviously the older tuneable models, that have over 10 years of beasting and still going. Put it this way I mainly use the mulching blade and will quite often smash my may through 2-3 inch Thorn and other scrub with it- not great for the machine

Currently running an echo 420 and 520 good strimmers can't really fault them. Plenty of low down power which is lovely for grass. main downside is getting parts for them, took echo a month just to get a throttle cable and other bits take over a week to get them, which for a pro user isn't good as too much downtime. Echo rep said it will be sorted this year if not back to stihl even though they go wrong more but parts are in dealership next day!

I've brought a number of ex council (3-5 years old)Stihl FS410s and use them only with shredding blades. they do the job for me and still going 2 years down the line.

Not to sure what work they did with the council but they are worked hard throughout the year for me but get plenty of TLC regularly.

I like Stihl so slightly bias:001_smile:
