chain around an ash

Question

first post. plan to retrain as an arborist in 5 yrs once present career comes to an end so starting to get some knowledge and experince now.

i have a 25 m ash in my garden. about 15 years ago put a heavy duty chain around a nice thick branch 10m up for an anchor to top rope from.

Now started tree climbing and revisited the said chain, half imbedded in the tree and so assuming need to take an angle grinder up to cut the chain.

would the branch survive being ringed by a chain as the years go by?

cheers
