where renewable prices are still linked to gas prices. Luckily someone clever has come up with a plan to fix that.

It probably won't reduce prices for consumers and the renewable companies benefiting are mostly foreign owned  and have already taken a profit.

As the original FIT support expires most renewable will be on contract for difference and it gets very complicated, they can be paid to  curtail for one thing and if the current price for a CFD contract is exceeded the government takes the difference for all the other support.

The government is hung up on building new grid when looking at the data, companies with mega batteries already even out the prices in the early morning. Money spent on storage near where the power is consumed makes more sense to avoid grid constriction.

I'm sure that it may have helped to some extent.

If you want to class yourself as vermin then well ok. Mankind has made some massive achievements. I don't see squirrels exploring the solar system, making plans to colonise other planets or having the potential to stop another asteroid extinction.

We may the the only intelligent life in the galaxy, enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm not sure we are particularly intelligent. What we are is one of the most adaptable species on the planet. We have opposable thumbs and the ability to walk upright freed our hands so we can use tools. That adaptability allows us to manipulate our environment like no other creature that has ever lived. But we haven't changed it for the better, just for the short term convenience of ourselves. We've colonised every inch of it except the deep ocean and we've stripped it of resources, exterminated other species and depleted biodiversity.

Space travel is remarkable, but all we've done with it is to fill the near-Earth orbit with junk. We've turned it into a rubbish dump. It's a dubious achievement and I shudder to think what damage we'd do if we could travel further. We are the only creature whose vandalism of its own environment is visible from space and ironically the only creatures able to travel to space and look back at what we've done. If we are proud of our destructiveness I don't think that is very intelligent.

We can greatly enhance the environment to the benefit of all life. A thoughtfully tended garden or a coupe of hazel coppice are good micro examples. But generally, as a species whose population has boomed to nine billion in a world that can really handle only about two billion, our instinct is to colonise, exploit, deplete, defile and exhaust the world we live on And now we're supposed to get excited about the prospect of travelling to other worlds and doing the same there. And the drive to do all this is to make profit from and wield power over our fellows - which brings us back to the subject of this thread.

We are particularly intelligent - it's just to do all we've done AND self regulate the population would have meant being almost god-like. Anyway here in the UK we are not the problem - our birth rate has fallen below the replacement rate. To save the world Farage and Trump should consider the unthinkable - interventions to lower the birth rate in Africa and other impoverished places - they all end up in US and UK, squeezing people into new builds with postage stamp lawns

Concentration: 27 of the 30 countries with the highest fertility rates are in Sub-Saharan Africa.

I saw the video Mark, the edited 15 seconds clip. Struck me that he was passed out and none of the sycophants around hm looked concerned. If my boss slumped in his seat like that we'd be reacting, probably dump him in an ambulance for good measure.

Sshhhh... we're meant to have forgotten about that. Each time we remember he does something even more mental.

However which one were you referring to? Or if that is too long an answer, which type of abuse... the rapes, the voyeurism, the 'not quite' underage girls (and occasional boys), the complicit in another rapists crimes.... so many to choose from with him.

However let him finish his war-distraction first, and the Venezuela-Distraction, and perhaps when he gets there the Cuba distraction (next on the list).

Hard to believe that it's just over a year since Musk tweeted he was in the Epstein files.

I'm sure that nothing of geopolitical significance has happened in that time.

It's proving to be a useful strategy for his little follower as well.
