chainsaw carving set-up on a tight budget

The Florabest Lidl one comes with an Orgeon 16" AO95 'Doubleguard' bar - would the mounting end of that type of orgeon bar be the same a dime tip? I haven't a clue but sure someone here does.

The bar mount may well fit but it will most likely have a 3/8 lo pro clutch sprocket or .325

In order to run 1/4 carving chain on a dime tip you would need to swap that out for a 1/4 clutch sprocket/worm drive. It may be possible to fabricate/modify one but I doubt there will be a ready made part for these saws.

This is a great setup for detail work. I run a 14 inch Tsumara dime tip on it (very small radius tip) and its a perfect balance. If you contact Rob (at the link quoted below) he can give great advice on packages for what you need

Hi bud, I'm always on a tight budget :-( but for years I've used a wee stihl 180 with a pole saw bar (and chain) - it's not as pointy as a proper carving bar but you can get a reasonable amount of detail with it. Have to say, just recently purchased a sugi r7 bar and chain, the difference is something else, but not cheap - bar, chain and sprocket were the guts of £130. Not sure if you can still get the pointy poĺe saw bar but for around £100 you should be able to get an ok ms170/180. One last thing - there's really not much to a wee saw engine, so a bit of pootering about on a fixer upper could be worth a try. (Plenty of helpful info on this here forum)
