  2. Cherry regrowth (if you prune it aggressively) goes off in aesthetically unpleasing directions. Man plans, god laughs. If it's not a problem, it's not a problem.
  3. Hello! Following some good advice from @spudulike @adw and @Stubby to not bother doing anything with a Husq 340 just because it was cheap, I failed the weakness test and got hold of an 034 because it was 'really' cheap and didn't 'look' in bad nick at all. Was hoping it'd be a shot fuel line or similar. It's a piston scored on the exhaust side only, and a small amount of transfer inside the cylinder (to my eyes anyway, I had never seen inside one until I looked at this one)... plan is to put an aftermarket cylinder and piston on it, and possibly the crankshaft oil seals since they come with the kit, and see how it goes. If I learn something about chainsaws and engines as a result I'll be happy...
  4. If it's anything like the Welsh version check what paperwork you need, I had to have health and safety plans, haulier questionnaires, first aid training and forestry works manager training just to buy roadside and still failed on some minor things so I I've stopped trying because it's too geared towards the massive buyers. In terms of bids I would put £55 for softwood and £80 for hard but you never know who could put £90 or £100 in these days.

  17. I'm not an expert but going to add this here, maybe that will prompt someone more knowledgeable to answer? 350 year old oak tree How old is the house? When did the subsidence start occurring? For example, if the house is say 50 years old, the tree 350 years old and the subsidence was noticed 5 years ago.... I am guessing that -something- else is the root cause (if you excuse the term), you can trim the tree as much as you like, put in root barriers and so on... but from what I have read here that might not be the cure. I am suspecting that the builder - maybe at the time following the regulations they needed to - didn't build the foundations to take the trees into account. Might be you have to pay for an independent assessment, not necessarily an arborist, perhaps a structural engineer or similar for advice.

  21. The roller I was talking about is the chain roller, not the mower roller.🙄
  22. Typical seizes are using old fuel oil mix where the oils lubrication has been degraded, lack of or no two stroke oil in the fuel, air leak or running lean. Running lean can also include split fuel lines, blocked fuel filters, blocked gauze strainers etc The piston crown damage is interesting. It is possible that someone has damaged it using a poor choice of piston stop or it has caved due to the heat. The damage looks like a bad case of pre ignition but that could only happen if the coil had developed a weird fault or the flywheel managed to shear it's key and stop a few degrees in advance. Never seen one that bad before.
  23. Hi im currently looking into a working holiday in Australia, probably perth. Ive been in contact with some people and have been told the "busy season" is from roughly march to july. My questions were: how true is this? Would big companies still potentially employ new workers in the "slower" season? Or is it basically hopeless to try and get employed before march ish? Ideally i would love to be in oz before the miserable uk winter lol, but obviously moving and not getting a job isnt a great idea.
  24. Wind yes, sun to the south probably also a factor. I'd guess it will always be uneven now, although there are some buds on the north so they could possibly develop into branches. You could try removing a few of the longest branches, don't shorten them else you are liable to cause even more sprouting on the cut ends.
  25. Now sold! Next toy car to come soon!

Jensen A550 Towable Woodchipper in great condition with only 99 hours on the clock. 1300kg. 8” Capacity. 25 HP Kubota Engine. Bought from TH White in April 2021. Still under manufacturer’s warranty until 07.04.2024. Fully serviced and new blades fitted by TH White at 97 hours. Comes with tool set, manual, spare blades and all service receipts. I have the paperwork showing that all finance is paid off. Very capable machine. While I was waiting for this machine I was loaned the 37 HP A550 and I can honestly say the performance of the 37HP machine was only marginally better than this 25 HP version. Demos at my home address in Herefordshire. The reason for sale is: I sustained a bad back injury last August and haven’t returned to serious tree work so don’t need such a big machine. £18,000.00 plus VAT. VAT NON NEGOTIABLE. No time wasters. No silly offers. 07813 088591 [email protected] when I bought this machine in April 2021 Jensen were selling the new A550 in 25,37 and 55 HP versions. This is the 25HP version. A year later Jensen decided the 25HP version would be called the new A540. so what you see on Jensens website being called the new 25HP A540 is exactly the same machine as this one. TH White are now selling the new A540 25 HP for£28,500.00 plus VAT so to buy this one with only 99 hours on it for £17,500.00 plus VAT is a £11,000.00 plus VAT saving!
