  2. I automatically paid my blokes from 8 until 17:30, if I took on jobs two hours away, that was my choice and not theirs so they got paid! I didn't have a 'travel' rate and labour rate.... I did once deal with a contractor who only paid 'time on site' and wondered why folk signed up!

  4. Yes, I think you are both saying the same thing here, if the BBC (or others) report something then they have to be able to stand by their reports as accurate. A correction should have been made, and it was. but.... shouldn't ever happen. Control of the press has been the tactic of tin pot dictators through history - any countries leader that is honourable and able to defend their actions would never control the press like Trump is trying to do... the BBC will be wary of any critical pieces from now on, which is a bad thing. Noting that the UK - according to the World Press Freedom Index (Wikipedia it) - ranks about 20th in 180 countries, the US is about 60th - British journalists are afforded a lot more freedom to report than their US based peers. Perhaps Trump doesn't like that much either (that last sentence was of course, an opinion). But that goes back to what you are both saying, our national press needs to be trusted. It also needs the freedom to report - accurately - as it sees fit. One last problem is that while the press organisations have standards, more and more people are getting their news reports from social media - linkedin, facebook, bebo and so on - who are not obliged to uphold any standards and what is posted there should be seen as opinion pieces only. Very easy for them to push an agenda by what articles they promote and there is little control of that (see the last elections with Cambridge analytics (?) doing that). At least the BBC is kind of unbiased with their reporting (some reports are biased one way, some the other but as a whole, generally neutral). Back to yesterday though, (opinion here) Trump is milking this presidency for all he can get, far more than any others did before.
  5. I can have a look, do you have a photo or two of the DCS2500 hook? I've not yet used one and I am not finding a good pic on google. On the DCS does it have a seperate lanyard ring or does the hook replace that? I'm happy printing stuff just cover the postage.

    Jokes???

Don't tell anyone but I stole a load of oak boards last week. Quercus robber.
  7. Have you thought of the fibreglass live line rods with a saw or parrots beak sniper? Each rod is 4ft long and I regularly had a stack of 15 plus upright!

  9. Igor has had a bit of a improvement lately. Slipped seamlessly into the routine of staying at home, short walks and eating good food. Arthritis under control, doesn’t seem to have as many fits. Health generally good these days, didn’t think he’d make Christmas but looks like he’ll go on for a bit yet.

  11. Maybe fuel from a certain garage is dire then, and i should use fuel from a different garage! But the will be weeks where it doesn't get used ,thats when the damage seems to happen -pipes going brittle and carbs playing up... and in the sediment bowl is a dubious white grease/lard deposit
  12. So any recommendations? Please? Don't want cheapy..Good picture quality, memory, whatever. Needs to o be good.
  13. Another thing that properly boils my pith: When householders/gardeners historically tip their garden waste into the neighbouring woodland... it's blatantly and obviously fly-tipping (therefore illegal), but impossible to prosecute, without trip-cam evidence, or similar, I'd guess.. One Cheshire woodland I worked in has several hook-loaders worth of garden debris, from just five large houses (£1m+).. But two successive land agents haven't exactly done much about it, despite my questions.. 🤔 Gurr..
  14. Sorry for not signing in this morning , My computer has had a failure of the bit that connects to the internet . On my daughters borrowed lap top now .
  15. My humblest apologies; I stand corrected Gloria you wonderful machine you 🤩 You sound like you still have her (again)...?
  16. Could be the fuel stop solenoid getting lazy?
  17. Hi Sonny. Are you sorted for work? Whereabouts in WS are you? I know quite a few companies looking for climbers on the west side.
  18. Goat willow isn’t too popular either 👍

  20. I think the term "father" might be a bit of a stretch deciding whose daddy must get tiring.
  21. Sorry, only just seen this! On the ground so far, working through my tickets, dragging, cutting and rigging, and running the log grabs etc. Crane job was a particular highlight so far!

    New Hilux.

Just realised you meant truck! What a dullard! It is a 2.8ltr four banger. I am told it was this years m9del and registered before the changes in tax code etc! Used another tank today and got 21.4mpg. Bit leery at times, especially on a wet, diesel soaked roundabout! Wheel spin and opposite lock. Comfortable enough but oddly, has a stepped gear shift and a manual hand brake. Automatic headlights but not wipers and the lane advisor is nasty!

  24. I know you fud, I was just messing. That’s actually a pretty nifty technique.
  25. Worth trying a couple of the local coppice lads around Herefordshire – a few still cut decent hazel each winter and usually have binders and stakes stacked. Also check with the Small Woods Association groups in the area, they often know who’s got fresh hazel in. For 63m you’ll need a fair bundle, so best to ring ahead before you drive out.
