  2. @Johnsond without foreign citizens willing to work for sht sallary EU and UK would be in prolonged recession... BAD stuff economically speaking...
  3. @sime42 asbestos, formaldehide and you're still here 😁 Anyway: burning oak ,hornbeam or any other wood in log form is nice. But if we would all heat our homes with only that,I'm sure we'd run out of forests to cut... 😂 Maybe if we'd live in Siberia we wouldn't run out of trees to cut... But as is, new forms of useable energy should be tried. Although Navien , NTI caprice 85 or even Kiturami condensing oil boilers are "tempting things" to have and use 😁 I myself am "cheating" still having installed some time ago a new condensing gas central heating just to be safe and instant hot water.. Unless using mechanized stuff at every stage, getting dried firewood will be labour intensive. At least here in Romania...

  5. Wasn't Reg Coates designing a climbing device a while back, said to be nearly ready around the time the RRP /RC graple was released? Did anything happen with that?
  6. So yesterday I had a chipper demo over at MDL Power up, in Carlisle. Also present, was a well-known contributor to this site, and his hound.. From the demo -and subsequent discussions with MDL's office manager, it only now transpires that this 4'' tracked chipper is actually designed for the production of wood-pellet feedstock ! -No, NOT wood chipping!? So it's great at very slowly turning 1'' to 3'' diameter branches into saw dust-like particles -that do happily blow everywhere... We didn't bother trying to chip 4'' hawthorn or cypress, that would be just asking too much, I think. In an effort to produce some actual wood chippings, I swiftly removed the substantial main screen -but no real change, just as covex said above. We then proceeded to remove the 8 off swinging drum hammers, leaving just the two chipping blades. Surprisingly, there was still no change to the particular size output... It has many plus points -but is useless for my needs, unless I diversify into pellet production ! In defence of the unit, the engineer did insist on turning the hydraulic feed-speed down to a snails pace.. 😏
  7. Slightly undue mockery. A tenner a year (plus the fcking on though) or not, it's still melting itself. You wouldn't be impressed if your car melted its own bumper.
  8. The landlord of my local noticing I'd had a few told me, don't drive your car home tonight you'll crash it, take a bus,,, didn't help, I crashed that fecker too.

  12. That is not a good sign,😆 when reading this it filled me with dread knowing everyone wants to try not to pay out for more certs . But alot of it is in cpcs training. But I had the displeasure of driving a 3 ton grey thing , struggled lift 1/4 dumpy bag on a tight radius !
  13. What good are gold ingots and stacks of cash if you're dead? Healthy and happy is enough. Of course don't starve to death and a home wouldn't "hurt " either. But to live only to make money and buy gold or other valuables is pointless.

  15. alcoohol is for weak people 😁 on 15 november I will be celebrating 10 years since I last drank alcoohol. And it wasn't beer. P.S. beer should be free! or at least massively subsidized by ALL governments(taliban included) 😎
  16. Now at over 19,000 sites, the comparison to the previous image is noticable! 2023 2024
  17. As above are you sure the primer is connected the right way? Its short line from (normally the top of the) carb, long line returning to the fuel tank. The fuel line goes from the fuel tank to the bottom of the carb. If the lines are clear, you should see where the bubbles start from? Are you sure the carb was assembled in the correct way? If any of the diaphragms ripped, it could benefit from a carb kit. You can pressure test a carb, but do it gently to avoid breaking stuff. You don't need a pressure tester for this, if you blow with your mouth on the fuel line you get an idea if the pressure is dropping.
  18. @Mark_Skyland did you manage to sort the issue out?

  20. I'm from a different end of the country, but I'd try local sawmills, firewood suppliers or timber haulage companies. Scope out anywhere where trees are being felled, sometimes they will have a half load or some types of poorer grade timber that the sawmill doesn't want. If the wood is green, technically it needs to be delivered with a statutory notice on how to store and dry it.
  21. We will soon need another climber to join our team of 5 based just south of Oslo in Norway, preferably with ETW (European Tree Worker) certificate and have a minimum 3 years climbing experience. Since brexit it has been harder to get visas for Brits here so ideally the applicant will have Duel nationality or a European citizenship. My company is called Ekorn Trepleie AS and has been established for 12 years, for a little more info, please take a look at the website: ekorntrepleie.no Reply to this post or pm me with a short description of your certifications, experience and contact details, i look forward to hearing from you, thanks! 22. Morning all, Looking like a wet one here. Taking the day off to rest my (real not metal) knee. Hope all goes well Pete.
  23. I've got similar, PC27R. Similar vintage. First thing I did was put on a hydraulic thumb. It's worked very well for me. Looking at an undercarriage refresh next summer.

  25. Any ideas where the bits are fabricated?
  26. Of course! With the price of hardwood logs my way just for firewood being a minimum of £120 a ton and sawlogs well over £150 a ton being the primary factor. We have a large firewood producer local to me who produces about 300m3 of hardwood logs a week and kiln dried them in a few days. Plus he gets a chipper in to do the rest, I think the chipper takes 800mm diameter, its a beast. On a personal level my Mill can only handle logs at 750mm diameter and thats if its poker straight. Poker straight being a premium. Id also have to hire the Estates Avant for the days I'm milling the logs plus all my other associated coats. Id have to buy in 10t of Beech at a minimum. Even if the delivery was free thats £1500 up front cost just for the logs, then all the other costs and my time on top. Thats why I made that comment. By the way, that set of Oak Bowls you made me are still going strong.
  27. Happy grinding Mick. A hydraulics day for us.
