Who said anything about cutting? He just needs a cool looking avatar picture for his ‘socials’ profiles. 🤣 If you can get a bar to actually fit, next step is to cut the sleeves of an old formal shirt and buy some elasticated braces!

Be careful with eBay. They have modified their consumer protection policies to the point where a buyer merely had to suggest foil play on the sellers part and eBay will refund them, with little or no chance of the item being sent back. Havent had this experience myself but got reading a long thread of complaints which I visited over another matter. Seems you need to basically make a small documentary filming yourself showing the saw running, packing it (could be tricky if it’s still hot) and taking it to the post office. Obviously less risky for non mechanical or electrical items such as a door stop or a set of coasters, but I’d be very dubious of using them for saws etc. As a buyer, crack on!

Hi everyone - I took the head gasket off this morning and it was pretty much knackered. I dont know whether it was rough enough to have caused all the smoke. I'll find out when I put it back together. Also the gasket on top of the head where the inlet manifold is attached to the head was completely destroyed and in two pieces. That may be even more relevant. I don't really know. Anyway I'll update as soon as its back together which may be some time as I have to source the new gaskets online.

Yes, get it running and someone off ebay will take it. Conversely I might have just been lucky.

Maybe I just had a bad one. Always kept it clean and sharp, carb clean as a whistle, filters replaced when needed. Still looks like a nearly new saw as hardly done any work, every time I have job it could do there's a new reason it won't run, pull the 361 out and off you go. I might get it running, sell it and go battery with 12" bar. Smaller and cheaper the engine the more problematic I've always found.

Rediculous. No Norwegian would intentially over-complicate any basic task for reasons known only to them.

It doesn't get so much use as it used to, but I've had a MS181 for about 12 years - just domestic and smaller firewood, doesn't miss a beat still, but as Muddy suggested, maintenance is the key, perhaps missed out if the tool is in a 'disposable' price tag? Service and clean when it needs it, OEM recommended oils, sharp chain and watching how much you abuse it, should last pretty well... However for just around the garden if I was to recommend anything I'd go battery as well.

You are spot on there, I hate a design that means more work when its not needed. Am torn between the CS4310 and the CS501, not a lot of difference in price, but quite a bit in weight and power, I hate being old and having to diddle the figures to keep on keeping on. I picked up a CS501 in the shop, it felt heavier than I remember them, sold mine three years ago now and was more than happy with the weight at that time. Anyway, I like that the 4310 uses the small mount husky now, them bars that come on them Eco saws are solid and heavy, great workhorses if ya don't have wonky elbows.

Active saws are still made in Italy and supposedly decent quality. Digital carbs though The older models of huskys are still made for other countries so you can get imports but are expensive. Security Verification LOGSANDSAWS.CO.UK They are still selling 2 series brands new

It was Endre’s Job. I don’t think he added twat tax. I wanted to charge that tax in the form of a crane to get the stick out but some people prefer the harder approach to the smarter approach.

Anyone else hoarding 2 stroke chainsaws? 😳
Tree monkey 1682 replied to TurtleWoods72's topic in Chainsaws
Yes, I find it stressful. I dont want to hoard saws but I just want something that will work that your not having plug in to a laptop to fix. I dont want to be forced into battery powered stuff, it doesn't sit well with me . Im trying not to hoard to much but im also finding going to dealers miles away or dealers not carrying stock any more -we will order in when asked for it . Also alot of the independent small people who carried stock dont exist any more , so no going down the road to pick one up. You've only now got the big three or in my case two as I only like husqvarna and echo , efcos newer saws are made in China But I dont want a load of saws ,just to be able to get a saw that feels compatible with me, does a days work , and is safe.- 8 replies

Morning all, Heavy rain due for next couple of hours, so playing wait and see, as job is not a full day, might avoid getting PWT.
