  1. Past hour
  2. Haven’t paid a huge amount of attention either for obvious reasons, although even when I was still climbing i was started to get over the excitement of new things
  3. I must admit I’ve not really being paying much attention to new climbing kit , looking around as I replacing most of it the other week I was surprised to see how much stuff was notch.
  4. The only thing I can think off that you haven’t done is the inlet and exhaust valve clearances. The carb on my Vanguard V twin needs stripped and cleaned about once a year, that is even after I added an inline fuel filter and a fuel preserver.
  5. Yes I would prefer to have something that is going to stand the test of time. I think some of this notch gear is not quite worth the money they ask of it.
  6. @Steve Bullmani think you had to show me how to use the first one I bought at Caple years back…..after a few beers it wasn’t working for me.
  7. As a triangle it’s black ?…. Any way I’d say that mold is more testimony to its longevity, I’ve had two in the last 15+ years and I’d still be in the original probably if it wasn’t in a stolen climbing kit. Bought a cheap one off eBay as a back up and it lasted two minutes before one of the steel rods poked through the side.
  8. Good Morning I saw the news too Stubby. A sad day in someone's household. Saying that, hopefully it was quick and the chap went out doing something he loved. We can't all die peacefully in our sleep unfortunately. I remember Lady Di too. Got up on a Sunday at 6 to go and do my 8 till 8 weekend. Got in the trusty Escort Van and the radio was playing solemn music. Every station the same. Wasn't till I got to work did anybody on the radio say why. Long and unusually quiet day. Have a brilliant Sunday.
  9. Why does the falteimer one have to be in white, every climber you see getting this mouldy looking triangle out of the van at the start of the job! Would of been better in black, maybe easier to see you throwline in the box I suppose.
  10. I just googled throwline cube, AliExpress under a tenner. Picture shows it with actual climbing line in, must be top quality!

  14. Wet, misty but not cold. Not too much to do today, so that’s exactly what I’ll be doing.
  15. Morning all. Continuation of wind and rain to come here. Got the airport pick up this evening so thinking I'll go a bit earlier, stop by the yard and get the mog trailer emptied ready for tomorrow's 4 dismantles. If I time it right I'll have opportunity to visit the carvery we went to after the last Sunday shift, quite fancy a roast dinner. You around today Les? Hope things ok. Have a good one folks.

  18. I have also learned that Sky schedualling played a part in the desision .
  19. Hi everyone, I have a problem that's driving me mad. I have a Cub Cadet ride-on mower powered by a Vanguard V twin 20hp Briggs and Stratton engine. It will only start with a squirt of easy start and then runs normally for about 1 minute and then starts to smoke quite badly. Bluish or white smoke. I have done a compression test and both cylinders have 120 - 125 psi. A leak down test shows only 20% loss. So all appears to be good. Carb has been stripped down and thoroughly cleaned. Both magnetos have been adjusted. Good spark at one plug. The other had no spark until I removed the kill switch wire. So it does have a short somewhere but that wouldn't cause the smoking or reluctance to start. I'm fairly good with the running of small engines but this one really has me beaten. Any advice or ideas would be much appreciated. Many thanks - Richard

  24. @Mark BolamFound that Mark, it was just some 25mmx5mm flat bar I had, at the bottom of each drill the holes to match what’s on the individual handles currently there and weld the round bar 👍👍job done, you can as I did later move the holes slightly to increase leverage and reduce the throw if you are fussy, like I say it worked great.
  25. Log Splitter Valve 80LPM (A&B 1/2" BSP) (P&T 3/4" BSP) Auto Kick Out WWW.APPROVEDHYDRAULICS.CO.UK The P81 is an on/off directional control monoblock valve that is designed as a log splitter valve. It is spring centered in one... The basic flow fit ones are sh1te, these are the best for log splitters.
  26. Mark They can be swapped to single handed operation but the inlets and outlets etc are all on the wrong side, by far the best ( plus my original rock spool valve was goosed) was to swap the whole thing out, the bracket itself which it’s bolted onto is just something I had lying around, I took it to a local semi retired hydraulic guy who sorted it in no time. Total cost wasn’t too bad, the new spool valve was the same as the link put up in an earlier post. I originally had a length of flat bar bent in a U shape with holes to match where the two individual handles attach below the cover, onto that I welded a 6” piece of round tube. To be honest I preferred it as the extra height suited me and it was only the fact the original went tits up that I ended up fitting a replacement. I couldn’t find any pics but I’ll do a quick sketch and stick that on in a minute, very easy to make and works well.
  27. Thanks for the information. Ill buy him the pla for now. I think that he thinks he is going to make a fortune making and selling fidget spinners and model surron's to his school mates!
