Crane boat poplar job

This job happened last year. We were asked to help remove one standing pop and one that had fallen into the river. After exploring a number of options it was decided that using a crane barge was the best solution.

 

This is the first video I have made. As I was doing the cutting I could only photo/ film so much of the job so the video is rather crude but you should get the jist.

To be honest I`m not sure where it came from or how far it was, the job was run by a company call Safety Boat who work the rivers around Gloucester, we were just there as the arb contractor side. It took a day for the boat to get to the job and a day to get back.

Crane barge named Gloucester is based on the Gloucester to Sharpness canal and River Severn it is operated by the Canal River Trust

Hey, where was the job? Down towards Sharpness? Just curious cos Stroud is my home town, though I've not lived there since 2001. Good job by the way, bit different.

The job was in Gloucester. Yeah it was a bit different, a different toy to play with.

Hi, this was my job and as we normally do just vegetation works and facing up stuff, I wasn't equipped to undertake such big tree works as this. After looking at countless ways to undertake the work safely, the crane barge was decided as the best way to complete it. Ali's team completed the work quickly and very efficiently.
