being a southerner ( who went to Newton Rigg) I dont remember seeing an elm that size.

Classic crash and burn...looks like nice firewood.
Seems like u use a shallow scarf ( face cut) 1/4 diameter hence the big backcuts? Is that standard over their or some other reason?

looks like you were at the underside of the tree when felling the middle stem out, never seen that before. i always like to be at the topside, much safer imo. looked proper dead. hard as hell usually but yet still chewy.

Used to get loads, unfortunately there are very few left

I just got given a few nice ones to do, road side for the council

Two are like the ones in the vid, well dead. The other five have only just died.

Really looking forward to them!!

the geckos will come into their own there dave. green elm is heavy and a pain to chip. but tod and the crane can worry about that eh
