Which chainsaw for £500 or under

Hello every one been a while since I was last on I've been using my Stihl 051 AV for home use and its been running great but has now decided to play up while half way cutting my logs up so I have decided to purchase a second saw for back up purposes.

 

The spec for the new saw.

 

It will only be used for my own personal use for cutting logs for my fire wood so for instance once maybe twice a month but will be run all that day.

 

It will need to be able to cut through logs up to 24".

 

It needs to be pretty reliable/well constructed and have a good reputation.

 

Any advice is much appreciated.

i'm a Stihl fan for the most part, but value for money wise, Echo could well be worth a look in that price range

I'd say husky 555, will pull a 20 bar so double that and you will have ample.

 

if you want to cut it in one it will cost you loads more

Stihl would be my choice 440, 460 or 660 depending upon what is about secondhand at what price.

 

Maybe wishing for a 660 is a bit much but a 460 would be fine and should be well in price wise

Stihl 460 is my all time favourite...if second hand then you should be able to pick one up at that money. I run a 25" bar on mine.

This Echo should do you and you get some change.

And remember, with Echo you get a 5 years warranty for domestic use like you have described.

I know second hand is always a risk but if you could find a pre Xtorque Husqvarna 372 then that would be my choice . I have a 2003 model still going strong as you like.
