I include some images of above from a recent visit to Seoul, a city raised to the ground during the 1950 – 55 Korean war, hosting the summer Olympics in 1988 and the football world cup 2002, as a result of the above hardly any trees predate 1955, I saw 4 or 5 trees older than 60 years in 3 week visit! The city has tree lined roads with avenues of Pine, Prunus, Metasequoia, Ginkgo and Acer https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=seoul+autumn+colour&biw=1920&bih=963&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj7wpqnmvXJAhVEuxQKHSjuCpsQ_AUIBigB the autumn colour here is superb

I guess all the planting here is by semi mature transplanting, there is evidence of this almost everywhere you go, there are areas of extreme modern architecture with sculpture and landscaped areas injected in between, this makes for some ‘film set’ style landscapes. tbc!

yep even horse chestnut style trees affected here as ours! in my last picture on other post, some of planted trees are heavily braced and even braced to other trees, also trees are wrapped in hessian, I guess to help in summer heat and winter cold, bracing is often 4 bamboo poles wired together at the tree stem, the picture with the steel balls has laser light writing in the paving under and this reflect through out the structure at night.

Really awesome pictures here! I wonder what their watering regime is like, and if they incorporated stormwater management systems to retain water and irrigate trees throughout the summer via an underground network of pipes.

And do those chestnuts have leaf miner or blotch? I am referring to the last picture in the first post.

some of the spp. seen, identified by name labels on trees,

Prunus yedoensis matsum

Pinus densiflora short wide crowned

Pinus koraiensis siebold I think the Scotts style

Diospyros kaki thumb, persimmon fruit

Celtis sinensis

Styrax japonica

Chionanthus retusa I try to find more later!

people most polite and helpful, children always keen to try out their English language! and selfi to prove contact made! museum, palace and other school trips beware! transport bus good underground modern clean uncrowded both English announcement and visual on tele screen, most important unless you are proficient in Korean alphabet ! bus schedule and routes hard to find but ok when you have the correct numbers, people bow all the time, shops, restaurants, everywhere and you replicate, hard not to do when return home to amusement at times of recipient!
