Tree ID, Pests and Controls

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help firstly identify this tree (apologies for the poor pictures) and the symptoms which started a week or so ago as brown patches on the leaves and have developed to shot holes. On the underside of the leaves through a hand lens are light green coloured nymphs which I was guessing were an aphid??

I am trying to identify the tree species so that I might be able to identify the pest and finally find a treatment which might help. According to the owner, this is the 3rd year running that this has happened.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd guess goat willow, salix caprea

I agree that the leaves are very goat willow like but not the small green fruits shown in a couple of the pictures

Bird cherry was what I bought my chain saw for. I had one in the garden that grew from a sucker. I ignored it for a bit too long and soon it had a trunk nearly a foot thick. I had a quote for £200 to remove it but I bought a saw instead and the wood went on the fire.
