Chainsaw maintenance

I have a 5+ years old 346 XP.

All I do at present is.

Bar/chain.

Filters.

Replace drive sprocket and brake when needed.

Use clean fuel.

That's it.

I am generally of the "if it aint broke leave it be" principle. It still seems to work as new but thought maybe there are things I should look over and check. It's been a trusty workhorse and would like to keep it that way reading all the hassles others have with the 346s replacement.

check external nuts and bolts for tightness and change the plug.

changing the plug gives an opportunity to see the how the combustion is doing.

its good to ensure the fins on the cylinder are kept relatively clean/free from sawdust and resin.

not much else needs to be done if its running well.

Clutch bearing ?

:thumbup1:

Give it a quick grease now and again is always good practice even tho its normally the stihl plastic cage bearings that give most trouble.

5 years + you may want to check the fuel line condition a bit more frequent where it exits thru the tank as that's where they are prone to cracking.

Thanks chaps.

I do occasionally grees the clutch so got that one covered but not cleaned the fins or checked the fuel line so will do both.

Yep, good clean inside & flush the tanks out keeps them sweet.
