Ebay Germany

If found some kit at a reasonable price on EBay, however it's being sold by the company in Germany. It will fit on a pallet and can be shipped no problem. The price included tax etc. I assume I'll not have to pay any sort of UK tax to get it into the UK. Any thoughts?

You're fine. Free trade between member states of the EU

 

If you're VAT registered you can even get it VAT free btw.

You can have a uk pallet company collect for you about £120

I "ebay dream" about car stuff on a worldwide basis - just to see what is available and at what cost! I've yet to buy anything substantial in size but I did get a request for tax from some stuff sent from the states. Good luck with your purchase, could you not get it locally?

The item from Germany is around £800 cheaper than a similar item here in the UK, and that's after I've paid for delivery.

As Germany is in the EU, you should not need to pay the vat if you are vat registered. The seller (if a company charging the German equivalent of vat) should send you an invoice, clearly stating the pre vat amount and on that same invoice include your name address and vat number. They then do not have to charge you the vat.

This is an eu wide policy to make business easier as otherwise you'd have to try and claim the vat back of the German tax man...

 

I buy and sell a bit of stuff between here and the Netherlands, where the same rules apply.

 

 

p.s. if it's anywhere in the Northwest of Germany, let me know and I may be able to collect it for you.

i got my loading ramps from germany they were a lot cheaper than a uk supplier even with the delivery

I've got to ask --- why is arb stuff so much more expensive here in the Uk compared to Europe. Rip off Britain??
